Zombies shuffling towards console MMO

Seattle, Washington based Undead Labs, is currently working on a console bound MMOZ. MMOZ? Yeah, Mass Multiplayer Online Zombie Game. So really that’s MMOZG, which looks like something a 14 year old girl would text to her friends. Hit the jump for more brain eating news.

Jeff Strain (which could be the strain that causes zombism) was a former employee of Blizzard and NCSoft, he left to start his own production group of tallented, zombie fanatic designers. This is how Undead Labs rose from the grave.

Strain’s inspiration for a MMOZ?

“Every time I see a good zombie movie with friends, we spend days debating our strategies for surviving the zombie apocalypse,” said Strain. “The police station, or the supermarket? Garden rake, or staple gun? Bach, or the White Stripes? I’m a game developer, so I’d probably be useless for anything other than ghoul bait, but I’m excited to have the opportunity to build an MMOZ that lets us put those strategies to the test and find out for sure.”

Strain worked on Starcraft and Diablo, and also formed the initial team that launched World of Warcraft. Then with NCSoft, he was programmer and executive producer on Guild Wars. So I think the guy knows a little something about MMOs. Using that backlog and those around him, Undead Labs hopes to create the first Mass Multiplayer Online Zombie Game.

Let’s just hope their project doesn’t go the way another MMOZ did. Exanimus was another MMOZ that had promise in the beginning, but after a while it seems to have dropped off the face of the Earth. Either way, I’m still squealing with zombie fan boy happiness. Check Undead Labs’ site for more information.
