Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars PSP vs DS

GrandTheftAutoChinatownWarsSo Rockstar has released some screens of their PSP version of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars. I’m going to set up some comparison shots for you. Just so you can see the difference between the two games.

There is a drastic difference between the Playstation Portable and the Nintendo DS. The PSP uses UMD technology while the DS uses data cards. Not only that but they both have their hardware differences. The DS has a touch screen…the PSP has that little nub stick thingy…

Lets get to the screens!

Alright, so this shot is from the PSP version. It’s a nighttime shot showing off the new lighting effects for the game.

Here we have a night shot from the DS version. Comparing the two, we can see that the PSP version is better in terms of lighting.

Now let’s burn some stuff! Fire is always welcome in my book. That is if the book isn’t on fire… Again, lighting is pretty good for this one. I don’t want to keep pointing that out, but when you set stuff on fire its hard not to.

Now here’s one from the DS. Not as impressive, but still pretty good. We are talking about two different systems with completely different rendering engines and hardware. Not only will they be upgrading the visual style of the game but they will removing the touch features the DS is known for. Be sure to look for Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars this October 20th.
