Futurama is back…or is it?

by

fry-see-what-you-did-there So I reported earlier that Futurama would be coming back. Whoa whoa whoa…Calm down. The show still is coming back, don’t worry, please put the axe down..There are just going to be a few changes, mainly the cast

Variety is reporting that the original cast of Futurama will not be coming back. 20th Century Fox has opened auditions for the characters to replace Billy West, Katey Sagal, John DiMaggio, Maurice LaMarche and Tress MacNeille.

Why is this happening? Budget cuts. The budget for Futurama is too low to pay the asking price of $75,000 an episode. So when someone wants too much what do you do? Kick them to the curb and get a sound-a-like.

It just won’t be the same. I don’t know if the show will be what it was without them. I know the creators are the real creators, but the voices give the characters life!

Futurama is still expected to return in 2010 on Comedy Central.

Please tell me they have the same writers at least… Or at the very least hired Larry David.

This is BS. An animated series is part “visual” cartoons and part character voice. That means Phil – Katie – Billy John and everyoe else.

CC ordering 26 new epsidoes? Doesn’t matter if they order 1000 episodes. No true fan – which by the way are the people hat bought the DVDs in order to see the return of the series in the first place – will ever watch a new episode without the original cast doing the voices. The only exception is if someone died. Otherwise FOX should be getting on their collective knees and puckering up and begging the cast to return.

Not shunning them ’cause it’s too much money. And anyone rading – do the math $10-12 million dropped by the studio execs will appease this whole situation – and god forbid that the studio fork over $12 million – it might dip into their multi-billion dollar revenue this year – boo freakin’ hoo.
